Analisis Kalimat Imperatif dalam Video Motivasi Merry Riana di Youtube

Abstract
This study aims to identify and analyze the forms and functions of imperative sentences found in Merry Riana’s motivational video on the YouTube platform. Imperative sentences are a type of sentence used to express a specific intention to the interlocutor, prompting them to perform or refrain from performing a particular action. This research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach, allowing the researcher to systematically and thoroughly describe linguistic phenomena without involving numerical or statistical calculations. The data source was obtained through documentation methods by fully transcribing the utterances in the analyzed video. The data were then analyzed using a distributional method with the Immediate Constituent (IC) technique to identify the syntactic structure of imperative sentences and classify their types and functions. The results show a variety of imperative sentence forms in the video, including command imperatives (8 instances), requests (2), suggestions and hopes (5), prohibitions (5), and warnings (3). In terms of structure, 12 transitive and 11 intransitive imperative sentences were found. The use of imperative sentences in this video demonstrates an effective communicative strategy for conveying motivational messages to the audience.
