Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in reducing depressive symptoms in people from disturbed families. This study used an experimental design where 30 subjects were divided into two groups: the control group and the ACT group. The control group received traditional counseling therapy, while the ACT group received 12 sessions of ACT therapy. Data were collected using the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI-II) depression scale before and after treatment. Results showed that the ACT group showed a significant decrease in BDI-II scores compared to the control group, with an average decrease of 35% compared to 15% in the control group. The results of this study indicate that ACT therapy is effective in reducing depressive symptoms in individuals from broken families. ACT therapy helps individuals improve their ability to accept and overcome negative emotions and take meaningful action in their lives. These findings have practical implications for the development of more effective treatment programs to treat depression in individuals from dysfunctional families.
