The Role of Family Social Support in Maximizing Care for Diabetes Mellitus Sufferers

Due to case of inadequate treatment for diabetes mellitus, wihich makes people not place to much important on the care of diabetes mellitus sufferers, this research is to find out what role the social support receiver by diabetes mellitus sufferers plays in maximizing their treatment. There are four aspects of social support, that is: emotional support, instrumental support, informational support, and mutual support. The method used is qualitative, which is a reserch and understanding process based on a methodology that investigates a social phenomenon and human problem so as to
create a complex picture, a detailed report from the respondents view of a natural situation. The research results show that social support from the family is the main influence in the care process carried out by diabetes mellitus sufferrers.
