Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) is revolutionising English language learning in the digital age, especially through mobile applications. This study investigates how the Cake App, an AI-powered language learning tool, can improve students' speaking and listening abilities in English, particularly in the context of English for Specific Purposes (ESP). This study examines prior research using a library research approach in order to identify and characterise the AI features of the app, including interactive video content, speaking simulations powered by AI, and pronunciation feedback, all of which aid in language learning. Results indicate that the Cake App offers a learner-centred, immersive setting where students can practice using real materials and get immediate feedback. Through interesting, individualised learning experiences, these AI features help students improve their vocabulary, pronunciation, fluency, and comprehension. This study concludes that the Cake App is a useful educational tool that aligns with communicative and task-based learning principles, offering significant pedagogical implications for English teachers in technology-enhanced classrooms. Additionally, the app encourages motivation and autonomy, allowing students to progress at their own pace.
